Coaching skills are basic if one is to become an effective sought-after coach
The role of a coach is to motivate, prompt and to inspire.
The coach is also a confidant, a cheerleader, a corrector, a facilitator and a challenger of the status quo.
Meyer and Fourie view coaching as the systematically planned and direct guidance of an individual or group by a coach to learn and develop skills.
Napoleon Hill who popularized coaching used Mastermind groups which he defined as powerful groups of two or more like-minded individuals who call upon a "higher power" for their strength and knowledge
The more mentors and coaches concentrate on developing their own skills, the more effective they become.
